RESEARCH INTERESTS

Psychology and Law

My main line of research involves the intersecting disciplines of psychology and law. My current research projects involve examining juror decision making and how extra-legal factors such as race or socioeconomic status can influence case decisions. Specifically, we have found that jurors do not demonstrate bias towards defendants based on race or ethnicity alone. Rather, when race or ethnicity is coupled with another perceived negative variable do jurors demonstrate bias in their decisions. In addition, I use my expertise in this area as a trial consultant and as an expert witness in the Los Angeles area.
